~My first real Valentine Day, and why~Valentine Day is approaching. This V Day will be different from all the ones I had before. Because I never knew, until this year, the Christian origin of that day. Now that I know that Valentine was a Christian martyr who died because of his love for Christ, and that V Day is really about one's love for Jesus, it's all different to me.
I can look at all the pagan valentine trappings: the focus on romantic or s-xual love; the hallmark cards and chocolates; the boyfriends and girlfriends and know that they are all wrong. All these people miss out on the true meaning of Saint Valentine Day. They are the ones missing out on V Day, not me. I know my true Valentine. I know that V Day is about a martyr's love and devotion to Jesus to the point of death (St. Valentine was beheaded on Feb 14th).
This year, all the red hearts I see, all the love-struck couples, all the romantic valentine things I see reminds me, not of romantic love like the previous years, but they remind me of Jesus, of St. Valentine's heroic death, of my love for Jesus, and of His love for me. That reminds me of all the persecuted Christian around the world who know the true meaning of St. Valentine's love because they are living it, they are paying for it with their very lives.
The red valentine hearts we see everywhere remind me of St. Valentine's heart for Jesus, the red reminds me of the blood St. Valentine shed for Jesus, and of the blood Jesus shed for us. For the first time I'm getting Valentine Day right in my head. I'm getting it straight this year. It's such an outrage that the secular world turned such a beautiful Christian day into their version of 'love'. They took Christ out of Valentine Day. Which is like taking Christ out of Christmas.
Let's do what we can to put Jesus back in Valentine Day! All the things I've just written in this entry, you are free to copy and e-mail, and share.
It's just outrageous to see Christian singles mope on that day because they are getting the secular version of Valentine Day in their head instead of the true version. They are deceived by a lie. If, only they knew that it's a day in honor of a Christian martyr and that this day is to celebrate one's love for Jesus, how happy they'd be! It's a day for you to celebrate your love for Jesus. What is there to mope about when you get this straight? I think it's the Enemy who made people change the meaning of V day.
I think, for most of you it will be your first REAL Valentine Day too. Maybe I will go to church this Valentine Day just to tell as many people as possible about the real meaning of Valentine Day. Maybe I will do it. I mean WWJFD? What Would a Jesus Freak Do???
